I was a Nashville based drummer with the band for a short time in 1984 when Jim Buchanan and Jerry Reid were in the group. There was a single recorded at Ray Stevens' studio and promo pics taken I seem to have lost over the years that would be great to have again. Just wanted to say hello to any members still out there who remember me. Stan: Thanks for checking in! Been wondering where you were...send us an email with your contact info! - Kenny Davis

I have enjoyed knowing the members of Mountain Smoke since sometime in the mid-70's. Can't remember the exact year but Kenny was learning how to play in the Key of C and Hal was awed by his high school classmate, Bob Weir of The Grateful Dead. We were all young and I remember Kenny and I with sleeping bags as we occupied the floor of a broom closet in a bar in Vail, Colorado, because we couldn't afford a hotel room. It's been such a pleasure knowing Mountain Smoke. I learned so much from everyone. Thanks for the Continued Journey! (Bill's memory is a little cloudy regarding the Vail story...he bunked on the condo floor, not in a broom closet! - Webmaster)

OMG...imagine my surprise watching Country Music last night to learn Vince Gill was in Mountain Smoke. Way, way, back when I was a groupie (70's) when you played every week at Butterfield's in OKC. Knew (ahem) the guitar player then....

WHILE ATTEMPTING COLLEGE I survived several years working tables and Bartending at Butterfield Overland Express. Wednesdays mtn smoke owned the place.Bill Schumate the owner and Norma his wife always got a big table w/friends and loved you guys. The two big guys COULD play the flatop and you name it. we always packed the wed night evolution of acoustic inspiration. This young tall skinny dude had serious chops usually reserved for older studio pickers in Nashville. I eventually moved on to graduate school. a decade or two later when Vince HIT I wondered if that was the same musical doogie howser from Nw Classen we saw play Many wed night frenzied they were real TOSSED large cash tips as a matter of course. I often made my entire rent off of those Wednesday shows. You all became the best night of our week.

I saw Mountain Smoke many times at the Bar Ditch in Stillwater in 1975 to 1977. Very good band back then. A lot of good memories.
